Ozric Tentacles live is an incredible show and this collection from several different live performances does absolutely nothing to reflect that. Most of them feature the band in a selfindulgent doodling mode that is extremely tedious and ultimately just plain boring/5(8).

Dec 08,  · what's also funny, i thought there were people who enjoyed the techno side of the ozrics sound more than the organic/jam one, but only waterfall cities (which i voted for, with erpland and underslunky) from the post-joie and merv albums has any votes. i guess these people don't use this forum. 3 votes were too few in the end, i found it quite hard to decide.

Summary. The Ozric Tentacles, "the" progressive band of the s (although it began releasing cassettes in the mid s), took Gong's legacy (fusing jazz-rock, hard-rock and acid-rock into an energetic, slick, variegated sound) and copied Mike Oldfield's invention (collating melodic and stylistic events into elegant fantasies) to produce a synthesis that sounded both ambitous and natural.

Dec 04,  · Underslunky works both as a live album and an early best-of, making it the perfect introduction to the surreal world of the Ozrics for the novice, a great addition for the fan due to the extended/altered nature of the tracks, a beautiful document of their early-to-mid career and one of its peaks, all at the same time/5(34).

OZRIC TENTACLES spent the majority of the 80s playing small festivals and venues before they would find their first album “Pungent Effulgent” on the Dovetail Records label which would lead them into on their way to find themselves as one of the most interesting underground psychedelic space .
