This is my favourite Byrds album. It’s crammed with wonderfully inventive songcraft that seems to work together as a complete whole. Even the two Goffin-King numbers work; ‘Goin Back’ has just the right amount of wistfulness and the gorgeous harmonies and slinky pedal steel are sweet icing on the cake.

It was in that the Byrds heard a demo of a new Bob Dylan song, Mr Tambourine Man, and decided to cover it. The results had profound effects for both the band and Dylan, rocketing the Byrds to the top of both the US and UK charts and in effect giving birth to a new genre of music called folk-rock; which helped accelerate Dylan's transition into rock territory.

Overall this is a "decent" overview of the Byrds but includes way too many songs from their later era while leaving off too many great songs from their early period, e.g., My Back Pages, It Won't be Wrong, etc. This is very typical of the Mojo presents series, Spirit, Mott the Hoople, the Band/5(3).

Younger Than Yesterday is the fourth album by the American rock band the Byrds and was released on February 6, on Columbia Records (see in music). It saw the band continuing to integrate elements of psychedelia and jazz into their music, a process they had begun on their previous album, Fifth Dimension. In addition, the album captured the band and record producer Gary Usher.
